InFocus Corp., a global leader in digital display devices and visual collaboration technology, has introduced their 3rd generation of interactive projectors – the IN3920 Series. Improving upon their previous award-winning interactive projectors, these installable or portable projectors have an ultra short throw lens, can use two LiteBoard™ wands at once, and continue to be an affordable, effective and easy-to-use alternative to interactive whiteboards. The IN3924 and IN3926 interactive projectors allow teachers or presenters to turn almost any surface into an engaging, collaborative and interactive workspace.
The magic is in the wireless LiteBoard wand, which can be used like a mouse to draw, write and click on the projected image. The teacher or presenter can use the wand – held like a pen or remote control – to interact with the image from close or far away. Two wands can also be used simultaneously, allowing people to interact with the same projected image at the same time.
"The projectors in the IN3920 series are especially geared toward the classroom, and they offer outstanding performance and abundant features at a reasonable cost," said Dave Duncan, product marketing manager for InFocus. "An interactive projector offers a whole host of advantages over an interactive whiteboard: it's less expensive, it provides a larger image, it's easier to move, no other equipment is required to make it work, and it doesn't need to be calibrated. The teacher can walk around the classroom and interact with the image from anywhere, hand the wand to students, or work together with a student using two wands to solve a problem simultaneously – it's real-time point and annotate."
Content can be transmitted wirelessly (with optional USB wireless adapter) or via USB, and the projector can connect to a computer, DVD player or document reader via HDMI or VGA inputs. Presenters can also display content directly from a USB thumb drive. An IN3920 projector can also connect to up to 32 computers via network or wireless connection, with up to four computer screens displayed simultaneously.
The projector's ultra short throw lens provides a wide, bright image from very close to the wall with no shadows to interrupt the presentation. It also has powerful built-in speakers that deliver clear audio throughout the room. A microphone can also be plugged in to provide a voice lift or to narrate over projected content.
While not required to use, engaging interactive software is also included: drawing, math, geography, literacy and curriculum-building tools in the education version, and annotation, productivity and screen-capture tools in the business version.
