Optoma launches LED+ ZW212ST and ZX212ST XGA/WXGA Short Throw LED/Laser Hybrid Projectors
The two new projectors, in XGA (ZX212ST) and WXGA (ZW212ST) resolutions boast increased brightness of 2300 and 2500 ANSI Lumens respectively and are the result of substantial design and manufacturing improvements from one of just a handful of companies worldwide that are projector specialists. These latest projectors represent the cutting edge of lamp free LED+ technology and offer an exceptional life-span and eliminate the need for replacement lamps.
Head of Product Management, Justin Halls commented. "LED+ technology is the future of projection. Our latest generation of lamp free LED+ projectors provide a significant performance increase whilst still offering lower running and maintenance costs."
Inherently, colour fidelity created by LED+ technology is exceptional and coupled with the proven single chip DLP® Dark Chip 3 (DC3) design, leads to an increased perception of brightness over equivalent lamp based technologies.
Amongst the many new features of these latest Optoma projectors is the built in support for wireless presenting. Using a smartphone or tablet (iOS and Android supported) and the free downloadable Wifi Doc App., presenting directly from a smart device is as simple as opening a document or file into the Wifi Doc app. Presentations using projectors become completely intuitive using all the benefits of a touch screen interface.
If smart device presenting is not available, Optoma have included USB stick and SD card inputs for use with the built in media player software, negating the need to convert documents beforehand. Once copied onto a stick or card the projector does the rest and is capable of producing up to a 60"/152cm diagonal image from just 68cm away. Built-in 10w speakers mean that external amplification is not usually necessary.
The ZX212ST and ZW212ST are ideal for classrooms and small boardrooms. Once installed, the projector is easily managed. In addition to AMX ® Dynamic Discovery, Optoma now offers Crestron Roomview ™ compatibility, a custom configurable interface to monitor, manage and control every device in every room remotely via a network.
Optoma was a world leader in supplying projectors to the industry with <0.5 watt power consumption in standby mode, the ZX212ST/ZW212ST not only delivers reduced running costs, with Eco+ technology which brings together superb performance, but reinforces the commitment to "environmentally friendly" features such as timer control functions and fast shutdown and start-up. Lowered total cost of ownership coupled with low maintenance design ensures there are no hidden costs to owning an Optoma projector.

Acer S1370Whn projector: Short-throw versatility
Acer enriches its range of projectors designed to meet the needs of education and bring into the classroom new ways of teaching and learning, with the S1370Whn model. This projector integrates all the features that are important for schools, such as short throw projection and LAN control, and it's compliant with the Crestron Network Control that enables complete management of the projector via LAN.
With short throw capability this projector can display large images even when it's placed very close to the screen. Even at a throw distance of just 98 cm, this projector can display sharp and accurate images with a diagonal of 221 cm (87"). Thanks to this feature presenters can avoid projector beams in the eyes and at the same time they don't cast shadows on the screen during their presentations. As a result the S1370Whn offers greater flexibility and maximum viewing comfort, making it the perfect choice for great projection in the classroom.
What's more, the Acer S1370Whn can turn any lesson into an incredible 3D experience. The three-dimensional experience is made possible by DLP 3D Ready technology that can transform the flat surface of the room wall into a 3D screen. This solution unlocks endless possibilities for engaging learning, from exploring the universe to human anatomy, from discovering geometry to touring famous archaeological sites just like being there...
Two sets of D-Sub and Audio connectors allow users to connect the projector to two PC, for more flexible connectivity and instant switching. Besides offering more connectivity options, the HDMI® port provides seamless connection to the latest digital sources ensuring exceptional high-definition viewing.
The advanced lamp technology with illumination of 2500 ANSI lumens, a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and native WXGA resolution help bringing a new level of brightness, colour and clarity to the images. Top-class technologies, designed to enhance colour accuracy and sharpness, make sure the quality of images is unrivalled. Thanks to Acer ColorBoost II+, the S1370Whn reproduces images with more natural and balanced shades, while it achieves a wider colour gamut via Acer SpectraBoost, a color-wheel coating technology that boosts colour saturation. ColorSafe II ensures colour fidelity even after prolonged use.
With ExtemeEco technology the S1370Whn enables up to 70% power saving when there is no input signal for a while, helping to extend the lifespan of the lamp up to 7000 hours thus saving on lamp replacement costs and ensuring long-term, dependable projector use.
There is no need to worry about accidentally turning off the projector or wait for a cooling period before resuming the projection. The Instant resume feature allows users to turn the projector on right after it has been switched off. If the projector needs to be moved in a hurry after being used, thanks to the Instant pack feature, the power cord can be unplugged immediately without causing any damage. This feature can be very useful in case a projector needs to be moved from a classroom to the other shortly after using it.

New InFocus Interactive Projectors Offer Easy Alternative to Interactive Whiteboards
InFocus Corp., a global leader in digital display devices and visual collaboration technology, has introduced their 3rd generation of interactive projectors – the IN3920 Series. Improving upon their previous award-winning interactive projectors, these installable or portable projectors have an ultra short throw lens, can use two LiteBoard™ wands at once, and continue to be an affordable, effective and easy-to-use alternative to interactive whiteboards. The IN3924 and IN3926 interactive projectors allow teachers or presenters to turn almost any surface into an engaging, collaborative and interactive workspace.
The magic is in the wireless LiteBoard wand, which can be used like a mouse to draw, write and click on the projected image. The teacher or presenter can use the wand – held like a pen or remote control – to interact with the image from close or far away. Two wands can also be used simultaneously, allowing people to interact with the same projected image at the same time.
"The projectors in the IN3920 series are especially geared toward the classroom, and they offer outstanding performance and abundant features at a reasonable cost," said Dave Duncan, product marketing manager for InFocus. "An interactive projector offers a whole host of advantages over an interactive whiteboard: it's less expensive, it provides a larger image, it's easier to move, no other equipment is required to make it work, and it doesn't need to be calibrated. The teacher can walk around the classroom and interact with the image from anywhere, hand the wand to students, or work together with a student using two wands to solve a problem simultaneously – it's real-time point and annotate."
Content can be transmitted wirelessly (with optional USB wireless adapter) or via USB, and the projector can connect to a computer, DVD player or document reader via HDMI or VGA inputs. Presenters can also display content directly from a USB thumb drive. An IN3920 projector can also connect to up to 32 computers via network or wireless connection, with up to four computer screens displayed simultaneously.
The projector's ultra short throw lens provides a wide, bright image from very close to the wall with no shadows to interrupt the presentation. It also has powerful built-in speakers that deliver clear audio throughout the room. A microphone can also be plugged in to provide a voice lift or to narrate over projected content.
While not required to use, engaging interactive software is also included: drawing, math, geography, literacy and curriculum-building tools in the education version, and annotation, productivity and screen-capture tools in the business version.
